Karen Andrews, PT, MTC
Physical Therapist
Manual Therapy Certified
Fascial Counterstrain (FCS)
Karen Andrews graduated from University Of Maryland, Eastern Shore in 1992 with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy. Karen spent many years practicing traditional physical therapy in the Baltimore area where she found a love of manual therapy techniques. In 2010 Karen earned her Certificate in Manual Therapy (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine. Her MTC certification solidified her proficiency with joint mobilizations of the spine and extremities which was giving Karen and her patients successful results. Then, in 2012 - quite by accident, Karen was introduced to FCS, developed by Brian Tuckey, PT, OCS, JSCCI. Karen paid attention to Tuckey’s work when she learned it was mapped out on chronic pain patients, was based on the physiology of how and why fascia contracts, and targeted applied human anatomy. Karen realized FCS was a game changer. If it can help chronic pain patients, it was making real changes. Karen devoted all of her clinical time to mastering this incredibly gentle and effective manual therapy technique, and it has become her greatest professional joy.
Karen worked for and studied directly under Mr Tuckey at Tuckey and Associates, in Frederick MD from 2014 until 2022 while building her private practice . While at Tuckey and Associates, Karen saw firsthand how FCS helped patients suffering from migraines, post concussive syndrome, TMJ, vertigo, POTS and Lyme Disease, as well as traditional PT diagnoses including arthritis, pre and post op care, sports injuries and even wellness.
Karen is now proud to offer FCS at Tranquili-Chi as one of her 2 locations for her private practice.
